(from visitPensacola.com) Johnson Beach is a designated recreational area in Perdido Key on the Gulf Islands National Seashore. The area provides lifeguards, facilities and a parking lot and is ideal for water-based recreational activities and hiking. The area is well-known for the Discovery Nature Trail, a raised boardwalk that is roughly half a mile that takes visitors through dunes, pine trees and salt marsh outlooks. Entrance fees are required and collected upon admittance into the park.

Johnson Beach is still wild from Florida nature, not partying tourists. You will see pelicans and herons for sure. Go early in the summer to get a parking spot, though.

One of the most relaxing beaches in the area. This is part of the National Seashore park system, so a pass can be purchased. Military/DoD can receive a free pass.
