I am semi-retired from the design industry. I have an art studio on site, as well as a large garden and fruit tress. My education includes graduate classes at UC Berkeley. I tend to be a night person, although, I am usually up and going by 8:00 a.m. Being an Airbnb host, for the most part, has been quite a wonderful experience. Unsatisfactory. Host bait and switched house rules after the reservation was accepted leading to me not feeling comfortable staying at her home. Said she wanted to enter the apartment a day after check in to make sure I was following all her rules. I agreed and acknowledged her original house rules, but did not want someone coming into the apartment with all my belongings. She then refused to cancel, and even though I booked the place the same day of check in I was only able to recoup $65 of a $340 reservation. After speaking to airbnb, they reviewed all of the messages and agreed that the host was not fair in their changes of house rules and refunded me the entire amount. Poor communication.
