The Pondarosa is our little piece of paradise.

We are a short drive from both Wanganui, and Kia Iwi beach , we are surrounded by farm land, so enjoy the peace and quiet, but are close enough to enjoy the many cafes and restaurants Wanganui has to offer. Take advantage of the beautiful river, our fabulous river front Saturday markets and our many specialty shops along our gorgeous main street. We have lovely gardens here you can sit and enjoy while reading a book, the only noise is that of the birds and the odd sheep or cow. Relax and enjoy

, Gumnut House guests will have their own suite with a large queen size bedroom, separate bathroom and your own Lounge/Dining room. We only have one booking at a time so you won’t have to share with anyone else. Private outdoor area to relax ,have a drink and wander in the garden. Braemar House is great for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, small groups & families (the most fantastic play park for kids is just a few minutes away). We're located just across the road from the Whanganui River & 10min walk from the main shopping street Victoria Avenue. Prices are per room - additional charges for either a cooked or continental (cereal, yoghurt & fruit) breakfast. This room has a queen bed, a small hand basin and a garden view.

Magical mid-century home

Hautawa was designed by well-known Wellington architect Sir Michael Fowler for my great grandparents Sir Thomas & Lady Duncan in the 1950s. Sir Thomas & Lady Duncan were recognised for their philanthropy toward polio victims in the 1940s. At the time the house was designed with no expense-spared and had all the mod-cons. It’s a very early example of Sir Michael Fowler’s architectural work, but a treasure for any mid-century architecture lover.

Allie's HillTop Haven - Bespoke B&B Upstairs room

Allie's HillTop Haven enjoys stunning views of Whanganui's countryside and the sea from generously proportioned and sunny bedrooms. Complimentary continental breakfast available to all guests, with the option to upgrade to a cooked breakfast if so desired. Both rooms are in their own wing with garden available for use. Allie is happy for you to bring your well behaved pooch! The rooms are on separate levels, one downstairs, one upstairs.
