Unique activities hosted by local experts vetted for quality

  • Celtic handfasting ceremony
We will collect you both from your accommodation and take you to a beautiful and secret location near Loch Ness with celtic rings and altar where dressed in traditional Scottish dress I will explain this full celtic ritual of handfasting. After the traditional gaelic introduction the rest of the ceremony will be in english and I will join your hands together and you will repeat the old vows of binding from long ago. You will be offered the chance to recite your own vows after this if you wish. After the ceremony you can relax with your loved one and a romantic and decadent Scottish gourmet picnic and drinks complete with fire, rugs, blankets, crockery etc. We will then return you to your selected inverness destination. Other things to note This is not a legally binding ceremony and available for lovers, married couples, same sex and mixed sex couples alike.

  • Sunset at an ancient fort site
This is a chance to experience a sunset high up at the old hill fort known as Craig Phadrig above the Beauly Firth. It’s an evening start as we need to meet up and drive the short distance to the area and climb to the top for the sunset - but it will all be worth it! At the location I will help in you getting the best from your camera and ensure you take some super sunset shots, we'l then have a picnic of shortbread and coffee. The walk is around 1.5 hours there and back with time at the top it's normally 2 hours covering around 3km with a short ascent to the top. But we take it at your pace and with incredible scenery we stop for plenty of photos as we catch our breath on the way up! You do need to be prepared for windy and chilly weather, even in summer and it may mean that our picnic is a speedy one, or we have it lower down the hill once we have seen the sunset. In the case of rain we may not be able to see a sunset, but the tour will still go ahead as it's still a great walk! Other things to note Guests need to have a moderate level of fitness and the ability to walk a hilly 3 miles. Please ONLY consider this tour if your health allows for this kind of activity.

  • Spectacular Waterfall secluded places
We'll meet at my house in Inverness and drive to the start of our hike through native woodland over a single track road that borders the shore of Loch Ness. We'll then walk down through the forest navigating through the trails to enable the best views of the falls. On the way I'll chat about the history of the location and its connection with Robbie Burns, pointing out some of the hidden inscriptions and poems found on rocks as we walk to the lookout areas for the falls. We'll then head further down through the trails and wonderful scenery as I explain more about the ecology of the area and we'll keep our eyes peeled for deer, red squirrel and if we're really lucky we may see signs of Otters, eventually we'll emerge on the banks of Loch Ness where a certain beastie lives. We head along the shoreline to discover some of the old abandoned huts and climb up to a hidden monument that overlooks the loch. We continue through old burial grounds, stopping at the disused bridge for more photos, and a view up along the lower falls river. Returning gently back up through the forest and gorge to the top where we will have a well-deserved cake and coffee/tea in the Waterfall Cafe. Other things to note Guests need to have a moderate level of fitness and the ability to walk a good 3 miles. Please ONLY consider this tour if your health allows for this kind of activity.
