This spacious Victorian cottage is a great base to explore the coast , walk, birdwatch or paddleboard. Situated in the traditional fishing village of Tollesbury the cottage has a lovely dining area, fully stocked kitchen, two large bedrooms and garden. We’re a 5 minute walk from the water and access to miles of coastal seawall walks and nature reserves looking over the river Blackwater. Tollesbury is a popular place in summer with a saltwater swimming lido and many water based activities.

With its own beachside garden and breathtaking uninterrupted views of the wildest of Essex creeks and marshes, the cottage is only to be reached on foot atop a sea wall. The perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The last in a row of westerly facing cottages, perfect to watch the evening sun go down . Being in the Nature Reserve, we cannot accept dogs or pets of any kind; sorry. We do not let to groups; we only let to families or two couples maximum. Absolutely no groups of more than four guests or parties of any kind. High tide sometimes cuts off the house so please be aware of this.

The Retreat offers a luxury, self-contained cabin, for two guests in the heart of West Mersea. This idyllic spot is situated with private access just a stones throw from the beach. The Retreat offers a king-size bed in a beautiful cabin, with shower room, TV, fresh towels & linen, bathroom essentials as well as tea & coffee. Walking out of the cabin, within two minutes you will be on the coast road leading either to the village centre or towards the harbour.

Fully self contained annexe with its own private entrance and parking. The property is part of a historic house set in 2 acres of quiet, secluded gardens. It includes a fully equipped kitchen with espresso machine, washing machine, tumble dryer, lounge/diner, second lounge with sofa-bed and main bedroom with en-suite bathroom with large shower, separate bath, basin and WC. The annexe has its own secluded garden. Only 1.7 miles to the beach.
