You will have the house to yourselves - we will be far away, but contactable should you have any questions or issues. It's self check-in and check-out. There are many good and varied walks nearby, as well as scenic drives and gastro pubs. You will need to bring groceries with you - breakfast is not supplied.

Wythop School, Lake District

Located in the Lake District National Park on the coast to coast cycle route, Wythop School sits on the side of Ling Fell with views towards Bassenthwaite Lake. The old village school has been renovated to provide comfortable accommodation for up to 10 guests. The village has a pub and hotel offering good food and real ale. All other amenities (supermarkets, shops, bars, restaurants, museums etc) can be found in Cockermouth, a 4 mile drive away.

A fabulous cottage on the edge of the Lake District sleeping up to four. Original features with oak beams, deep bath, comfy beds. Two bedrooms, king size and twin/super king, the twin beds can be 'zip and linked' together to form super king. Quiet village location with pub. Beautiful lakes and mountains nearby for walks and adventures. Cockermouth market town is 4 miles away, with supermarkets, good independent shops, restaurants and cafes.

The Old Map Shop

The Old Map Shop was originally part of the village school. In more recent times it was a map shop, but then lay empty for a number of years before it was sensitively converted into a holiday property in 2020 - 2021. Caldbeck has a pub, cafes and a few shops. It is a great base for exploring the northern fells or for a stop on the Cumbria Way.

The Croft is a beautiful cottage in the heart of the town of Cockermouth, overlooking the river and a short walk from the shops, pubs, restaurants and other amenities. It is a luxurious, well equipped base from which to explore the Lake District. We welcome all visitors, their children and pets, come and relax in this calm, stylish space.
