This is the only spot downtown worthy of your business if you are looking for pizza. It is in the City Market (which is a tourist trap, mostly), but their delicious, cash-only pies are worth battling the crowds.

"HOME OF THE BEST FISH SANDWICH IN THE WORLD!" This is not your typical Fish-Fil-A sandwich. Yes, the seafood is fried, delicious, and local, but the real treat is the people-watching and knowing that you've found one of the only places in Savannah that tourists just don't know about. Try the Try the Malika Shabazz Juice for the true Savannahian touch!

The owner's name is Family. Seriously. He is crazy. His joint is in a gas station. There isn't really any place to sit there, so go get your entire group a giant mix of ribs, pulled pork, and sides, bring it back to the house, and feast. We had to cut ourselves off, we were going there so much for a while.

The owners, Rebecca and Miles, are old friends of ours. If you are headed to Tybee from our place, YOU MUST STOP IN FOR A SAMMY! The place is cute, the ownership and service is unmatched, and the sandwiches are the BEST IN TOWN! Stop in for a bite or take some food to the beach. You won't regret it!!!

Sightseeing

Great park in the middle of downtown. There is a cool fountain, fields for activities, tennis courts, basketball courts, public restrooms, playground equipment for the kids, and a Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings. Head North down bull street towards the river district or South towards the hip Starland district (a local favorite for arts, dining, and entertainment).

You are in Savannah, where walking around with a cocktail or beer is not frowned on or illegal; it is actually encouraged and celebrated. So, head down to River Street, wade through the tourists, and get yourself a "Call a Cab" adult slushy from Wet Willie's. It is a bucket-list kind of experience.

The best cocktail you'll ever have. These mixologists are true professionals. If you are looking for a sweet Margarita or Cosmopolitan, this isn't your kind of place. But, if you like well-balanced, boozy craft cocktails, go visit Gregg at Alley Cat for a delicious libation.

We aren't huge craft beer aficionados, but if forced to pick a favorite local brewery, this would be the place. The husband/wife team that owns the place are just great people who produce the best beer in town.

Parking downtown can be a pain.

Save yourself the trouble and either park in one of the many parking garages or just Uber ($12 each way).
Ungaphoswa

Forsyth Park Farmers Market

Every Saturday from early until 2ish. Go. Really. Just do it.

You are in the deep South.

Smile. Look people in the eyes. Say hello. Open doors for strangers. Say "please" and "thank you" often. Using "Ma'am" and "Sir" will take you a long way too.

Walk around downtown with an adult beverage! Seriously.

I'm not kidding. Savannah is one of a handful of cities in the USA that allow adults to openly carry and consume alcoholic beverages in public. You'd think this would lead to a bunch of drunk people walking around the place, pissing on things and raising hell. The opposite is actually true. Most people are responsible and well-behaved. Enjoy!
