Take a scenic drive up Grandfather Mountain and cross the mile high swinging bridge at top.

60 foot waterfall in the Pisgah National Forest. Climb to the top and slide down the rock. This is a fun family activity. The water is chilly though. There's a small entrance fee ($5/person in 2023.)

Float down stream and go over several 1-2 rated rapids over a 2 hour period. Longer 4 hour rides are available, but 2 hours was perfect for us.
