We’d love for your happy beach memories to be made here at our cottage by the sea, The Whimsy Whale. Our island cottage is perfectly placed under a canopy of magnificent live oaks, about 300 steps away from the ocean. Nestled on a quiet beach access street, central to all the best attractions, shopping and eateries on Oak Island; close to attractions in Southport. It is one of our favorite places to spend time together and we look forward to sharing it with you, your loved ones and friends.

Enjoy this old-school cottage with knotty pine walls. Pet friendly. Deck seating, gorgeous sunrise/sunset views. Walk directly to beach. Half mile walk to pier. Spacious open living area. Large dining table for games and puzzles. 3 BR (2 full, 4 twin). 1 Full bath, one half bath. During season stay Sunday to Sunday, Sun to Thurs or Thurs to Sunday. Check in ANY DAY during the off season for as little as three days. Pets allowed with pet fee. Please provide your linens (sheets and towels)

While in Southport, enjoy the shops, the majestic Live Oaks, dine at fabulous cafes & restaurants with water views, take a carriage ride, watch the boats go by, go on a ghost walk or tour a museum. Southport has something for eveyone!

Come relax and enjoy this comfy house nestled along the Intracoastal Waterway and ​the Masonboro​ Island Reserve​. Enjoy many waterfront views from inside the cottage, outside on the deck, around the fire-pit, playing games, or on the hosts' private pier. You can see lots of boats, a wide variety of native wildlife, sunrises, and more.
